Recently, with the approval of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the 8th Chengdu International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival in China is scheduled to be held from October 12-16, 2023, with the theme of "Sharing Performance Practice and Deepening Civilization Mutual Learning". It is planned to include four major sections: Wuzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage, Shenzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage, Bashu Intangible Cultural Heritage, and Cloud Intangible Cultural Heritage. The "Tianfu Grand Parade" event, which is the most closely watched part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival, will be re presented, and supporting activities such as academic forums and themed exhibitions will also be held at the same time.
The Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival is the only important cultural festival event in China that is continuously hosted by UNESCO and has been settled in Chengdu for a long time. It is one of the four major international cultural activities in China, hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the People's Government of Sichuan Province, UNESCO, and the National Committee of UNESCO in China. It has been successfully held for seven times (founded in 2007 and held every two years).
